Not a whole lot of action in this section so I was kind of wondering if anyone is still playing this game. I'm just starting to build a list and was going to go with Germans for my first army. I'm just wondering which would be the better book to go with, Hitlers Fire Brigade or the Desert Rats one? I'm really split on what I should go for as far as the army goes. I really just want one that gives me the most opportunities to play other people I guess.

So should I buy the Fire Brigade or the Desert Rats? Any helpful opinions would be appreciated.

Well, it seems to me that the majority of the locals playing have Germans. If you have any interest at all in Allies, I'd start with them. The US book just came out, and it looks pretty good. A Brit book is due soon (I think), so that's an option also.

That said, HFB and DF are both good for kraut armor and armored infantry. The Stalingrad book had some good kraut infantry lists. Of the two armored bookd, DF has the more recent lists and points values, but really does focus in on North Africa and Sicily. HFB covers more ground.

Aaron's got a good point about starting with an allied force if you have any desire to do one at some point.

While I love the Afrika Korps stuff, it's one of the armies I'm working on, I'd probably recommend starting with either a HFB or Stalingrad list. If you paint up the typical grenadiers, they can be used in a historical context to fight the Soviets as well as the Americans and British (Tunisia, Sicily, and Italy). If you paint Afrika Korps and want to keep games historical, you limit yourself to fighting Americans or Brits. But if you don't mind Afrika Korps fighting Soviets and you prefer them over the continental forces, pick up Desert Fox and go for it.

Here at Legions Games we have at least 50+ regular players randomly at the store. We also stock a FULL inventory as well as enough to build multiple units of any army.

We also have 8 gaming tables with terrain (Normandy Villages, Beach Landings, Desert, Russian Front & More) Stop By!!!

hi i am very new to these forums (first post actually). I saw a flames of war magazine while i was at a hobby store in Greensburg. It looks very interesting and i was wondering if i could come watch or demo an army some time with some one? I am not new to miniatures, as i have been into Warhammer 40K for a little while. Well, thank you.

Legions usually has a lot of people playing Flames of War. Me, I do 28mm WWII. I like larger scales... Rolling Eyes but starting to move to 20mm moderns.

Try posting here on their website, people will definately respond. You just have to register like you did on this forum. Just post or private message someone (The Colonel or Ogyrn are their usernames I think) about wanting to see a demo. Bill was very nice and ran a Disposable Heros game just for me so I could get the hang of it. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a FOW game or two going on every evening. Shocked

Hope this helps.
